Good Measures considers a range of factors—such as your brand’s size, category, product range, and more—to determine what industry aligned best practices apply to your brand. Additionally, where you’re at in your sustainability journey may affect the questions you answer.
Why is Good Measures based on the Good On You ratings system?
Since it’s based on widely adopted rating systems, Good Measures helps brands become more transparent and provides a credible solution for communicating progress.
Why are some materials classified as lower impact in fashion products?
The ratings methodology takes into account how different materials have varying impacts on the environment and animals, and categorises them accordingly.
How does the fashion methodology account for initiatives that have a broad impact on several issues such as certifications, production countries, and materials?
Certain initiatives may contribute to your score on several issues. For example, GOTS-certified products can contribute to points in issues such as Packaging, Non-Textile Waste, and Hazardous Chemicals.
What evidence can I provide for living wage?
Good On You incorporates a number of living wage benchmarks into our methodology, but we recognise that not all regions are covered by existing benchmarks.
Should I submit product information for anticipated production or past production?
Report product proportions based on your product range over the past 12 month period, not anticipated production.
What are primary, second, and final production stages?
As you’re updating your rating, you’ll see references to the three production stages, which are based on these industry standard definitions. Understanding the different stages is important when answering questions about sourcing, production, traceability, and certifications.
What is considered to be a lower impact beauty ingredient?
Good On You’s methodology takes into account how different ingredients have varying impacts on the environment, and categorises them accordingly.
Which beauty commodities are included in the methodology – and why?
Good On You’s methodology includes the most commonly used, highest risk commodities.
How are standards and assessments like FTI and CDP incorporated into scores?
Certain standards or assessments—including CDP Climate, and CDP Water—stand in entirely for other issues.
How does Good On You incorporate Fashion Transparency Index (FTI) scores?
For brands covered by the FTI, their score will be factored into their Good On You people rating.
Where does the pre-filled information about my brand in Good Measures come from?
Good Measures lets you dive deep into your existing Good On You rating, the source of all the information you will see pre-filled when you’re reviewing and making updates to issues.
How does the Good On You methodology consider our set targets, performance against prior targets, and other planned improvements?
Setting targets and disclosing your progress towards meeting them demonstrates your commitment to managing your impacts. However, your Good On You rating is primarily based on your current sustainability performance.
Why was the evidence I submitted not accepted and what can I do?
After your rating review is complete, you’ll receive an email with feedback on your updates. Here’s what you need to know if your evidence wasn’t accepted this time.
When and how often can I submit updated data about my brand?
You can submit updates for review at any time. However, you’ll get the most out of the rating review if you wait until you’ve made meaningful improvements in your draft score.
What kind of evidence does Good On You consider?
Good On You will only consider publicly available evidence to back up your updates. This ensures transparency and empowers better consumer choices.
